I suspect it is old age--too bad. Thankfully, we have digitally remaster copies of the originals for every!

It is not too bad. Part of the problem is the tempo and arrangement of the song is different. When he did this in the studio there were overdubs. In this case the strings and brass are playing some of the background vocal parts. He is hitting some notes good. Some of the 70's live stuff with Chicago did not really sound that good either.
